Ever since her teenage film debut, actress and style icon Chloe Sevigny, 36, has been known for being an onscreen risk-taker. But after a number of sexually explicit film roles and three years on the HBO hit Big Love, Sevigny has decided to stop being the girl who gets naked.
"I’ve done many explicit sex scenes, but I’m not that interested in doing any more," says the actress in the January issue of Playboy. " I’m more self-aware now and wouldn’t be able to be as free, so why even do it?"
Her decision expands to her Golden Globe-nominated role on Big Love, playing one of three wives to Bill Paxton's conservative Mormon politician. While Sevigny says that co-star Paxton "likes to get his kit off, and he looks great," she has become less comfortable with the show's nudity demands.
"Although I have done nudity on the show, the other girls won’t do topless," she explains. "I don’t want to be the show’s Samantha, like on Sex and the City — the only woman who’ll do nudity. So I refused to do any more and there was a lot of back-and-forth about it."
In the next and final season of Big Love, Sevigny says that "sex is still on the back burner" for her character Nicki -- but fans can look forward to plenty of intrigue.
"For viewers who keep asking why Bill and the family keep getting away with everything they do, this season the characters start having to face consequences," she says. "Since HBO said that viewers respond to how conservative my character is, she becomes stricter and more conservative."
And since she's keeping her clothes on, what will she be wearing?
"They’re dressing me like Hillary Clinton in the 1980s."
