Though she's had phenomenal success as both a solo artist and member of The Fugees, Lauryn Hill angered Uncle Sam by not giving him his cut.
Last year, the 37-year-old musician pled guilty to three counts of tax evasion when she failed to file returns for the $1.8 million she earned from 2005-2007.
On Monday (May 6), the mother-of-six was sentenced to three months in prison, three months of house arrest, and nine months of probation.
Though her attorney claims she paid more than $970,000 to repay the government, the judge ordered Lauryn to report to prison by July 8th.
According TMZ, Ms. Hill told the court, "I was put into a system I didn't know the nature of. ... I'm a child of former slaves. I got into an economic paradigm and had that imposed on me. I sold 50 million units ... now I'm up here paying a tax debt. If that's not likened to slavery, I don't know what is."
