'Burlesque' Director Reveals Musical's On-Set Challenges

Steven Antin tells MTV News he had to overcome technical issues while shooting dazzling Cher/ Christina Aguilera vehicle.

Moviegoers who experienced the dazzling, sensual world of Cher and Christina Aguilera's "Burlesque" over the holiday weekend know that it's a film with enough showstopping song-and-dance numbers to make heads spin.

And while the characters make things appear flawless onscreen, a lot of blood, sweat and tears were shed to make that magic happen. MTV News recently caught up with "Burlesque" director Steven Antin, and we asked him which number posed the biggest challenge during filming.

"Each of them had their own set of issues," Antin admitted. "Christina's ballad, 'Bound to You,' in its absolute and total simplicity was extremely complicated in terms of lighting and colors and texture. Executing that with the amount of smoke we had in the room and the backlighting, and they way that I wanted her hands and her body to cast shadows over the audience ... it's seemingly staggeringly beautiful, but technically it was really, really difficult to execute and very time-consuming," he said.

Perhaps not surprisingly, another taxing sequence to shoot was the big finale, "Show Me How You Burlesque," a song Aguilera wrote for the movie. Antin said the sheer scale of the performance — from the number of dancers to the too-slippery dance floor to the lighting — added plenty of heat, both literally and figuratively, to the production.

"We were shooting for a long time so that was extremely challenging and difficult to execute, especially in two days," he said.

We also asked Antin about his approach when it comes to actors singing onscreen: To lip-synch or not to lip-synch?

"I always ask singers to sing every take; you have to," the first-time director said. "For me, I have to because you create a completely different image when you're lip-synching," he explained. "Your whole entire body moves differently, so I would always ask the singers to sing during their takes.

"What was extraordinary about this, was Cher was doing her solo, 'You Haven't Seen the Last of Me,' "Antin recalled. "I could hear her over the playback, perfect pitch. She still has that powerful of a voice and I was just blown away because the playback is so loud. Same with Christina, I could hear her singing over the playback and I was just completely moved and everybody was blown away by it."

Have you seen "Burlesque"? What did you think of Christina's acting debut? Tell us in the comments!

The Situation, Muse, More Rave About Justin Bieber At The AMAs

'You know what? Bieber's doing his thing,' 'Jersey Shore' star tells MTV News.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash

After Justin Bieber took home four trophies at the American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, it was pretty clear that the music industry had caught Bieber Fever. And when MTV News caught up with some of the night's winners, nominees and attendees they all admitted that Bieber is the hottest guy in the game right now.

"I just think it's just insane kids are just Justin Bieber in-fevered," Taio Cruz joked to MTV News on the AMA red carpet. "And they love him, but they love us all, though."

Producer and songwriter Sean Garrett said Bieber is winning the guys over because he's won so many of the ladies over. "He just kind of came out of nowhere," Garrett said of Bieber. "He's excited. He's the youngest in charge, and he's definitely got the ladies."

Muse drummer Dom Howard confessed that, while Bieber is not a boy, not yet a man, he's still got that something. "Tonight he's won all the awards even though he's not quite a man yet," Howard said. "Boy of the year!"

Similarly, "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said Bieber was the highlight of the show, thanks to his performance of "Pray." "You know what? Bieber's doing his thing," Sitch said.

For crooner Michael Bublé, it was about who was selling more — which he says is probably the both of them. "I'm better than everyone else, and also I'm humble and good-looking and smart and rich and humble, but really humble," he joked. "I don't know [who sells more]. I think it's probably pretty close."

Do you have Bieber Fever? Let us know in the comments!

Mark Wahlberg Gives Thanks For 'The Fighter,' 'The Other Guys' In 2010

He's also thankful for 'Boardwalk Empire' — and we're thankful for him.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Mark Wahlberg
Photo: MTV News

Next up on our short list of people for whom we're most thankful this year: Mark Wahlberg. Certain generations will always remember him as Marky Mark from his days of "Good Vibrations" and Calvin Klein underwear ads. But in the last decade, Wahlberg has emerged as one of the industry's most savvy and bankable players.

In 2010, we were introduced to a new side of Wahlberg — his comedic timing — which he showcased by way of "Date Night," "The Other Guys" and MTV's own "The Knife Show." Behind the screen, Wahlberg teamed up with heavyweights Martin Scorsese and Terrence Winter ("The Sopranos") to bring "Boardwalk Empire" to HBO. He also produced and stars in "The Fighter." The man has been busy, and we're happy about it.

MTV: You're one of the people we're most thankful for. Has this year been particularly better than others?

Mark Wahlberg: It has. Every year above ground was a special year. Professionally, things couldn't be better. Personally, my kids are healthy — aside from my youngest having a double ear infection. My wife is healthy and happy and everything is good, so really I'm so blessed and so fortunate.

We've had a chance to talk and play around, but I'm not one of these guys who feels, like, entitled to be in this position. I feel so grateful and so humble. I've obviously worked very hard, it's been an amazing journey, but if it ended today, I would be happy because I was on the ride.

MTV: Is there a highlight from this year?

Wahlberg: I would have to say between the movie stuff and the television stuff — with "Boardwalk Empire" premiering, "The Other Guys" did so well. Getting to go do a comedy at the beginning of this year with Seth McFarlane, his directorial debut. I'm so excited, it's off-the-charts funny.

MTV: Tell me about "Teddy Bear," because it sounds absurd and amazing at the same time.

Wahlberg: I don't know how much he wants me to tell, but it's about this kid who gets a bear for Christmas, it's in the '70s, it's one of those Teddy Ruxpin-ish bears where you squeeze it and it says, "I love you!" The kid wishes and dreams that the bear would come alive, and a Christmas wish must be granted and it does. And Seth McFarlane is voicing the bear, but the bear is going to look like a little teddy bear, but it's motion-capture, like "Avatar." It's never been done before. It's insane. What the bear does is just ...

MTV: An R-rated comedy? I assume when Seth McFarlane is involved ...

Wahlberg: Yeah. The bear becomes famous, and then that's my ticket to getting things and living a life of privilege.

MTV: How satisfying was it for you to finally make "The Fighter"?

Wahlberg: Just to be able to get the movie made was such an uphill battle. I was so happy we got it made, and then the fact that we were able to make a great movie and, I think, the best possible version of the movie. There were so many times where I thought I would make the movie just to get it done, but it happened for the right reasons.

MTV: Do you have plans to direct?

Wahlberg: I want to direct, but I don't want to direct myself in a movie, because then it becomes about directing my performance. I don't have the ability to be that kind of multitasker. Producing was tough enough. But in the future, I'd like to take a crack at it.

MTV: What's next? You've talked about "Cocaine Cowboys."

Wahlberg: Yeah, probably right now. And then there's this other thing, "Broken City," that I want to do at the end of next year with Allen Hughes directing, which is on the Black List. [Editor's note: The Black List is a compendium of unproduced screenplays that different studios/readers have given high marks to.] It's one of the best unproduced screenplays, an amazing piece of material that should attract amazing talent. ... Hopefully "Fighter" will make it a little easier to get some of these passion projects off the ground.

MTV: What kind of film is "Broken City"?

Wahlberg: Crime, mystery. It's in the vein of those old classics, "Chinatown," even "L.A. Confidential."

Thanksgiving is a time for taking stock, expressing gratitude and, most importantly, overeating. We at MTV News have been gorging all year at movie theaters, so it's about time we looked back and gave thanks to our favorite actors and filmmakers of 2010. Enjoy exclusive interviews with our winners all week long.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Is 'Incredible,' Manager Says

'We're very excited about it,' Troy Carter says of upcoming LP.
By Jocelyn Vena

There's been a lot of buzz about Lady Gaga's Born This Way, with Gaga herself opening up about the upcoming LP at a recent concert stop. And while there are still some details up in the air, like what it will sound like and when it will drop, one of the team's main men shared a few more details about the full-length follow-up to Gaga's smash debut, The Fame.

"We're just starting to play music for the label," Gaga's manager and Coalition Media Group CEO Troy Carter said during an interview at the recent Billboard Touring Conference and Awards. "We're very excited about it. We're starting to play a little for people and getting a feel for it, and she's done an incredible job, a really incredible job."

Carter also talked about what the new album will mean for the business of Gaga, admitting he has no set strategy for it. "Well, you know what, it's not where I go from a business standpoint, it's more about where she goes creatively because, truth be told, we built the business around her creative infrastructure and that business that was built is unique to Lady Gaga," he explained, not willing to reveal a release date. "We haven't announced a date ... nope ... it's coming soon."

RedOne, who has worked with Gaga on smashes like "Bad Romance" and on the current album, believes that Born This Way will really step up the singer's already stepped-up game. "I think it's more of her freedom album. It's like freedom, this album ... it's her album!" he explained to MTV News.

"To be honest with you, I think that this album that she's making is too precious to talk about. When it comes out you'll hear and you'll make your choice. I think you're gonna love it. But I think it's too precious for me to talk about it. It's crazy."

Dimmu Borgir Release Live DVD; Plus Led Zeppelin, Brujeria, & More News That Rules, In Metal File

'It shows the intense live side of the band, as opposed to the perfection and the cleanness of how we sound on our albums,' guitarist says.
By Chris Harris

On October 14, Dimmu Borgir — who just happen to be Demi Lovato's favorite black-metal band — will release a a three-disc DVD/CD set called "The Invaluable Darkness," the band's first visual offering since 2002's "World Misanthropy." Boasting live footage shot last year, during gigs in Norway, Germany and England, "The Invaluable Darkness" demonstrates the unbridled furor of seeing Dimmu live, guitarist Silenoz said.

"It shows the honest rawness and atmospheric darkness of our concerts," the Norwegian told Metal File last week, after dismissing recent online rumors that his band's next LP would be coming out through Roadrunner Records. "Basically, it shows the intense live side of the band, as opposed to the perfection and the cleanness of how we sound on our albums. It's just a different side to the band, basically."

Dimmu Borgir began thinking about "The Invaluable Darkness" two years ago, but didn't start capturing footage until last summer, Silenoz explained, adding that the band will use its current stint on the Blackest of the Black Tour — which got underway Thursday night in Miami Beach, Florida, and also features the tour's founder, Danzig, along with Moonspell, Winds of Plague and Skeletonwitch — to promote the DVD. Dimmu Borgir will not, however, use the tour to write material for their next LP.

"It's our first time on Blackest, but Glenn [Danzig] had wanted to bring us out before [on the tour], but we weren't available until now," Silenoz said. "We've done Ozzfest before, but we're looking forward to this tour more. We did the main stage on Ozzfest, playing in f--_ing broad daylight. This tour will let us play in bigger places, but at the same time showcase more of what the band's about, visually. We are going to concentrate on the tour for now. Some years ago, we tried putting [material] together on the road, but once we got home, we listened back to it, and were like, 'What the f--- is this?' So, we just scrapped it all. We find it's so much better to totally focus on one thing at a time, and then, when that's over, you move on to the next [thing]. We don't really feel like we need to rush things, anyway, so we'll just take our time, and it's going to be what it's going to be."

Dimmu Borgir hope to reconvene in late December to begin writing the follow-up to 2007's diabolically titled In Sorte Diaboli. "We have some ideas floating around already, but we haven't arranged any material yet," he said. "We'll start doing that once the touring for this DVD is over." The band's frontman, Shagrath, is also due to marry soon — he's engaged to actor Nicolas Cage's ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, so that may have an effect on when Dimmu finish their next album, which Silenoz said could be out this coming spring.

"I'm sure [Shagrath] won't let anything get in the way [of] the band — I think, I hope," the guitarist said. "We don't need a Yoko [Ono] situation."

While Dimmu have been at it going on 15 years now, Silenoz said he doesn't think their forthcoming material will be much of a departure from their previous black-metal offerings.

"And we have always been about more than just that term, 'black metal,' " he said. "Luckily for us, the older you get, the less concerned you get with the categorization and putting labels on your music. Things start getting more and more limitless with us, and we know that we operate within certain frames. But we try not to analyze things too much, because it's just going to be working against you in the end. When we write new stuff, we don't think about what we should write — we just get together, and put material together, and if we like it, we keep it. That's the formula, if we even have a formula."

Dimmu Borgir are definitely getting older — guitarist Galder will be missing Blackest because of a recent addition to his family, and Susperia's Cyrus will be filling in for him; while former Vader drummer Dariusz Brzozowski takes over for Hellhammer, who had to leave the band in 2007 after sustaining a neck injury that's now limited the use of his right arm. As Dimmu has gotten on in years, Silenoz admits they have failed to keep pace with some of the more extreme black-metal acts that have followed in their wake.

"We helped open doors for the more extreme bands out there," Silenoz said. "I'm sure we helped open doors for bands like Watain, [insomuch as] people that had maybe started listening to us first then went on to the more extreme stuff. Let's face it — we're not as extreme as Watain and other bands like that, but we're fine with that."

The Blackest of the Black Tour continues through November 10 in San Francisco.

The rest of the week's metal news:

Dimmu's tourmates on Blackest, Winds of Plague, have announced ex-Azusa drummer Art Cruz has joined their ranks — he replaced Jeff Tenney. According to the band's blog, "Art has already added a new spark to the band and has provided us with a solid backbone that will allow us to continue our rampage stronger than ever." ...

What the world really needs is another Led Zeppelin box set, so, on November 4, Rhino Records will issue the Led Zeppelin Definitive Collection Mini LP Replica CD box set. For just $200, you'll get 1969's Led Zeppelin, 1969's Led Zeppelin II, 1970's Led Zeppelin III, 1971's Led Zeppelin IV, 1973's Houses of the Holy, 1975's Physical Graffiti, 1976's Presence, 1976's The Song Remains the Same, 1979's In Through the Out Door and 1982's Coda, as mini-LP replicas, with artwork from the original U.K. LP sleeves. Now, you know what you can get your dad for Christmas. ...

Former Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach and current Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz have teamed up for a new project they're calling Times of Grace, and they've already started working on material for their debut album. According to Leach, "We have two songs to go and we will be finished with all of the vocals. Adam has taken lead vocals in three songs as of yet and he is doing a great job. We also worked on a track yesterday that is so epic — we trade vocals and do two different melodies at the same time. This album went from a melodic metal album to an epic mix of metal/rock/pop/shoegaze and punk. So all of your metal expectations will be incorrect — we are pushing genre boundaries." To quote "Meet the Parents," we'll look forward to that, Greg. ...

The Funeral Pyre and Early Graves will be hitting the road together next month, starting November 7 in South Lake Tahoe, California. Dates are booked through November 21 in Hollywood. ...

The latest incarnation of Brujeria, which features Carcass frontman Jeff Walker and Napalm Death's Shane Embury, have lined up several U.S. dates for this winter. The band will begin its brief trek November 28 in Denver, and wrap things up in Dallas on December 7. ... Demiricous will be touring with the Gates of Slumber starting November 9 in Denver, for a jaunt that's scheduled to run through December 6 in Indianapolis. ...

Nearly three years after Roadrunner Records' Roadrunner United concert, which took over the Nokia Theater in New York's Times Square, the label is now releasing footage from that special night as "Roadrunner United: The Concert." The DVD, which hits stores December 9, will boast two discs and 24 live tracks, including Life of Agony's "River Runs Red," King Diamond's "Abigail," Killswitch's "My Last Serenade," Type O Negative's "Black No. 1" and Sepultura's "Refuse/Resist." ...

According to Blabbermouth, Verrot, bassist for Swedish black-metal outfit Elimi, committed suicide on October 3. In a statement, the band said, "Verrot was a very good friend, brother, an excellent bass player/musician and an important part of Elimi; we respect his decision and hope he'll find his way with the dark gods of Chaos. Let your black flame be a part of what brings forth the day of wrath."

Christian Bale Talks 'Dark Knight Rises': 'We've Got To Up It'

Actor tells MTV News he's 'very excited, because if ['Batman' series director Christopher Nolan] maintains, this will be the last one.'
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

News about the third installment of Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's "Batman" series has been slowly dripping out over the past few months. Nolan officially committed to direct in September, "Inception" actor Tom Hardy joined the cast in October, and a few weeks later, the title, "The Dark Knight Rises," was announced.

So, yes, we've been learning snippets of info here and there. All along the way, though, Bale himself hasn't learned much more than us. "Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it," Bale told MTV News while promoting "The Fighter." "It's our fourth movie together. I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know."

One thing Bale does know is that this will bring their "Batman" series to a close. That's what Nolan said back in March, and that's what has Bale looking forward to the "Dark Knight Rises" shoot.

"Very excited, because if Chris maintains, this will be the last one," Bale said, adding, "We've got to up it."

The production is set to kick off in New Orleans in the spring. That gives the 36-year-old Bale more than enough time to get into the mind-set of Bruce Wayne. Plus, after working together on two "Batman" flicks and 2006's "The Prestige," the pair know what to expect from each other.

"It just hasn't been necessary yet," Bale explained about not knowing very much about the upcoming film. "I know he'll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I'll discover it. He's a pretty damn good filmmaker. I trust that he's going to come up with something wonderful."

'Faster' Star Dwayne Johnson Talks Channeling Clint Eastwood

'I've got one big bullet and I'll put it right between your eyes,' he tells MTV News of throwback action flick.
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Dwayne Johnson
Photo: MTV News

Dwayne Johnson started off the year rocking a pink tutu in "Tooth Fairy." He's ending the year, though, in pretty much the exact opposite fashion, kicking ass like we've never seen the former pro wrestler kick ass before.

In "Faster," Johnson stars as an unnamed ex-con on an utterly brutal mission to avenge his brother's decade-old murder. The movie is like a flashy throwback to ultraviolent 1970s films like the Clint Eastwood-starring "Dirty Harry" and Sam Peckinpah's "Straw Dogs." Those flicks, it turns out, were the inspirations for "Faster," which opens Wednesday.

"The movies of the '70s, a lot of Peckinpah movies, Eastwood movies from the '70s, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson — movies like that where they just have that tone and that texture," Johnson told MTV News. "There weren't big explosions for the sake of explosions, so all the action was fueled by an emotion. Not big bazookas or anything like that. I've got one big bullet and I'll put it right between your eyes. It's that type of action."

That's a far cry from January's "Tooth Fairy," in which Johnson played a vicious hockey player magically transformed into a tooth-snatching, cash-bestowing pixie. It's a role that had him squeezing into tights and donning the aforementioned tutu. So, um, which Johnson character — fantastical fulfiller of dreams or cruel destroyer of lives — falls closest to the guy he really is?

The 38-year-old actor says each role has something in common with the other — a trait he also proudly shares. "There is nothing I wouldn't do to protect someone I love," he said.

Check out everything we've got on "Faster."

'Deathly Hallows' Designer Reveals Scene Secrets

'Harry Potter' production designer Stuart Craig talks to MTV News about helping Harry retrieve Sword of Gryffindor from a frozen lake.
By Kara Warner

In the weeks leading up to the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1," fans were in a frenzy, trying to figure out just how much of the book would make the first film, which scenes would delight and disappoint, and what characters might not return ever again. And trying to get the tight-lipped folks in the Potter camp to discuss those key points was a bit of a struggle. However, now that the film has opened, MTV News has enlisted the expertise of longtime Potter production designer Stuart Craig for a few behind-the-scenes tidbits.

Much has been said of the production moving away from Hogwarts and out on multiple locations, which Craig described as a "movie on the run."

"We made a very different kind of film, which was shot a great deal on location. We traveled quite far, we built sets, and they spend a lot of time in a forest," he explained. "We built forest sets and integrated them into the real forests, so there were challenges there, as you might imagine."

Another one of the production's major challenges — and accomplishments — was shooting the sequence in which Harry retrieves the Sword of Gryffindor at the bottom of a frozen lake.

"There was a really demanding, complicated special-effects requirement there to do the ice," Craig said. "I think that all works remarkably quite well, actually. Harry breaking the ice, diving in and then subsequently strangled by the Horcrux around his neck and is struggling and can't get up quickly because of the ice above him. It's good stuff."

Which begs the question: How did Craig and his team pull off that scene, and what do they use to make the ice look so real?

"As always, well, as nearly always, there's more than one solution. The camera on top, looking from the outside down on it. It's big, thick sheets of Plexiglass with frosty texture on top of that," he revealed.

"When we're underneath, it's actually an area of wax which floats on top of the water. And wax makes very effective ice. They're tried and tested movie techniques; there are a lot. You could write a book one day, a guidebook, to the very movie techniques — frost on window panes with some Epsom salts and brown nails."

One of the great pleasures in chatting with Craig, whose credits outside the world of Harry Potter include "Ghandi," "The English Patient" and "Notting Hill," is the fact that he has such an informed perspective on the inner-workings of the industry; specifically, how advanced film-making technology is now.

"The great thing about movies these days is that you can fix everything," he said. "I have to give a talk at a film festival early next month, and I've just been looking at films that I've done in the past. In particular, 'Ghandi,' years ago in India. The thing then was: If sometimes there was a compromise, it was filmed and it was there, locked. Forever. You look at the movie 20 years later, and there it would be.

"These days, with visual effects able to do so much, you can do face replacement, you can put Dan Radcliffe's head on somebody else's body. There's nothing they can't do, it seems. I mean, at a cost, it's not cheap, so terrible things seem to get fixed, which is very reassuring," he added, chuckling.

Usher's VMA Performance Proves He's Still King: Making The Show

Singer held back at rehearsals, harnessing his energy for Sunday's show.

The King is back!

Usher thrilled the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night with his stunning combination performance of "OMG" and "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love."

The singer moved and grooved, proving that he's the R&B star that everyone pays attention to for the big moments.

After a lukewarm reception to his previous album, the singer busted back onto the charts and radio with his latest set, Raymond v. Raymond, and he's been proving doubters wrong since its release.

"We all sat in a room and came up with a concept for the stage, and then we took that concept to Usher," VMA executive producer Dave Sirulnick told MTV News about the star's setup. "We said to him, 'We want to do the best televised dance routine that you've done in years. Let's show why you're the king.' "

Usher handily delivered.

Durng his rehearsals he was as focused as Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant on the eve of game seven for the championship.

His choreographer led the way with Usher's backup dancers while the "OMG" star looked on intently; he only jumped in a handful of times, instead choosing to harness his energy for Sunday night's big show.

The crooner has ruled the charts in the past with a mix of uptempo grooves and slow-burning ballads.

But Usher has reinvented himself this year with the will.i.am dance tune "OMG" and his latest single, "DJ Got Us Falling in Love."

Usher plays to win, and after his stirring performance it's clear that the crown still rests securely on his head.

The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

More Drama For Fantasia

Things just keep getting messier for Fantasia Barrino. Her affair with the marriedAntwaun Cook has dragged her into his divorce proceedings, with his wife Paula branding Fantasia as a home wrecker. Fantasia maintains that she thought Antwaun was separated at the time of their 11-month on-and-off affair, but Paula, allegedly, wants to sue herfor ?alienation of affection and criminal conversation?.
Another element of Fantasia’s struggle was revealed in court. Fantasia spoke of getting an abortion around the time of her suicide attempt while questioned by Paula’s lawyers. Not that this admission has helped sooth Paula in any way at all. A source reveals, “Paula?s lawyer is arguing that they got the room because she knew he was still married.Paula is not doing too well, having to hear all this in court and replay it all over, she?s emotionally torn.”
We’ll have to wait and see what comes out of this. But we’re really feeling for Fantasia for going through what she did.

Lady Gaga's Born This Way Is 'Incredible,' Manager Says

'We're very excited about it,' Troy Carter says of upcoming LP.

Gwyneth Paltrow Showered the 'Glee' Cast with Gifts!

Gwyneth Paltrow Showered the 'Glee' Cast with Gifts!

Gwyneth Paltrow is earning rave reviews for her guest-starring role on Glee, as substitute teacher Holly Holiday, but she's also garnered plenty of praise from the cast -- just for being herself!

"She is a sweetheart," Mark Salling (Puck) told People.com, revealing that the Oscar winner left the Glee kids with more than just a highly entertaining episode.

"She actually gave us all wrap gifts," said Salling, who scored an old-fashioned telephone receiver that plugs into a cell phone.

In addition to being generous, Salling, 28, called out Paltrow for having a great sense of humor. "She's very funny," he added. "She put up with all of our questions about (husband Chris Martin's band) Coldplay."

Now there's rumblings that Glee's executive producer Ryan Murphy may have Paltrow back on the show to reprise her role -- and to maybe get a little romantic with Matthew Morrison's Mr. Schuester.

Report: Dancing With the Stars Set On Lockdown After White Powder Mailed to Bristol Palin

Emergency responders raced to CBS Television City studios late Friday after a white powder substance was found by a member of the Dancing with the Stars staff.

The apparent target, according to TMZ, was likely Bristol Palin.

Law enforcement sources say the powder substance was discovered by a DWTS staff member, and a section of the studio was then evacuated and cordoned off.

Mark Ballas and Bristol Palin

Fortunately, the FBI reported it appears to be mere talcum powder after "initial field screening was negative for hazardous substances." An investigation continues.

The powder was contained in a piece of fan mail addressed to Bristol Palin. We know plenty of fans are upset with her long run on the show, but this is just wrong.

Come on, people. There's nothing funny about terrorist threats, even if Brandy's elimination really sucked. Get a grip ... also, the white powder thing is so 2001.

Now that this is over and it looks like everyone's free from danger, we can go back to debating whether Bristol deserves to be in the finals ...

Far East Movement Thank Fans For 'Like A G6' Success

MTV News informs the Los Angeles band that their hit single has achieved double-platinum status.

Far East Movement must be feeling pretty fly right about now. Not only has their club anthem "Like a G6" conquered the Billboard Hot 100 once again, but the song has also reached double-platinum status. MTV News caught up with the electro-rap group, and they thanked fans for their hugely successful debut single.

"Whoa. We just found out on MTV News that we hit double-platinum on 'Like a G6,' " Kev Nish told MTV News. "Thank you. We're grateful to that. That means a lot of people across America are feeling fly and like a G6 and getting slizzard, so thank you guys."

Back in September, the quartet spoke to MTV News about the inspiration behind their breakthrough single. "A G6 is not a Gatorade flavor. It's not a car, convertible, four-door. It's not a watch," Nish explained. "But Drake, Drake talks about having G4 pilots on deck, so we said, 'What's flyer than a G4?' Of course, it would be a G6."

After the band recorded the party anthem, which features the Cataracs and Dev, they immediately went on tour. Without having time in between, FM put the track on a mixtape and uploaded it online. Little did they know that "G6" would spawn legions of fans online.

"We came back about three months later, and on YouTube, we had, like, a million hits, so it seems like the people were speaking," Prohgress said.

Far East Movement got started in 2003, but it wasn't until this year that they released their major-label debut, Free Wired. The LP was released October 12 and features a slew of collaborations with Snoop, Lil Jon and One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder.
